The advantages of dental implants

Dental implants are an increasingly popular choice for people who are missing one or more teeth. Implants are a permanent solution that can give you back your smile and your confidence.

They also have many other benefits over other missing teeth solutions, including:

The dental implant treatment process

Initial assessment

During the initial assessment appointment, your dentist will assess whether dental implants are the best treatment for your individual case. After taking x-rays, we will explain the process to you and predict the results that you are likely to see.

There will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and raise any concerns you may have. If the treatment is appropriate and you would like to proceed then we will create a bespoke treatment plan for you.

The treatment

The treatment requires several visits to the practice. The first surgical procedure involves the titanium screw being secured firmly to the jaw.

Once the new implant has been allowed to fuse with the bone, a further appointment is arranged for the visible part of the tooth (the crown) to be fitted.

After the new tooth has been completed we will also schedule follow-up appointments so that we can keep an eye on progress.

You're in safe hands

The dental team at The Crescent are all highly experienced and utilise the latest techniques and equipment to make sure you get the best dental implants possible.

popular dental implant frequently asked questions

1. What are dental implants?

Dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically placed in the jawbone to serve as artificial tooth roots. They are designed to support a dental crown, bridge, or denture to replace one or more missing teeth.

2. How long do dental implants last?

With proper care and maintenance, dental implants can last a lifetime. However, it is important to practice good oral hygiene habits, such as brushing and flossing regularly.

You should also visit your dentist or hygienist for regular checkups and cleaning, to ensure the longevity of your dental implants.

3. am i suitable for dental implants?

Many people are candidates for dental implants, but it depends on the individual's oral health and overall health. To be a candidate for dental implants, you must have healthy gums and sufficient jawbone density to support the implant.

At your consultation, our implant dentist will perform a comprehensive exam and review your medical history to determine if dental implants are right for you.

If you have inadequate jawbone density, your dentist may recommend bone grafting prior to the implant surgery.
