In addition to restoring the strength of weakened or broken teeth, they can also cover unsightly fillings or substantial staining. A dental crown can also be combined with dental implant to provide a complete replacement for a missing tooth.
Before your crown can be placed, the dentist will first gently remove a fine layer of enamel from the affected tooth and reshape it to allow a precise and comfortable fit. An impression is then taken for the new restoration to be individually crafted. A temporary crown will be fitted to protect the tooth until the new permanent one is ready. At the final fitting a special cement is used to secure the crown firmly into position.
